How to reach
By air
- Maharaja Bir Bikram Airport, Agartala (IXA) — The region's gateway and one of the busiest airports in the North East, about 12 km from the centre of Agartala, with direct service to Kolkata, Guwahati, Delhi and Bengaluru.
By rail
- Agartala (AGTL) — Connected to the national broad-gauge network since 2016, with direct long-distance services west through Assam. The station is the practical arrival point for the whole western plain.
- Udaipur — For Matabari, Bhuvaneswari and the Gomati valley sites.
- Kumarghat and Dharmanagar — The northern railheads, and the approach for Unakoti and the Jampui ridge.
- Sabroom — The southern terminus of the line, at the far end of the region.
By road

Getting around
Autos and shared vans in Agartala, and shared Sumo and Magic vehicles between towns. The hill roads are slow rather than difficult, and distances that look short on a map take twice the time the map suggests. Domestic visitors do not require a permit for this region.
