| Laat Sahab ki Barat | The day after Holi | Shahjahanpur's shoe-pelting procession, in which a masked figure representing colonial authority is paraded on a buffalo cart and abused by the crowd. Held for well over a century, and policed heavily. |
| Tharu Barka Nach and Holi | Winter, and Phalgun | The terai's own festival season — narrative dance over several nights, and a Tharu Holi that is closer to a harvest and ancestor observance than to the plains version. |
