How to reach
By air
- Trivandrum International Airport (TRV) — The nearest airport by a wide margin — roughly 70 km from Nagercoil — and the reason most visitors to this region arrive through the neighbouring state.
- Madurai International Airport (IXM) — About 240 km north; useful only if arriving from within Tamil Nadu.
- Tuticorin Airport (TCR) — Around 160 km along the eastern coast, with limited service.
By rail
- Nagercoil Junction (NCJ) — The district's main station and the junction for the lines to Thiruvananthapuram and Tirunelveli.
- Kanniyakumari (CAPE) — The southern terminus of the network. The Vivek Express from Dibrugarh terminates here, making it one end of the longest single train route in India.
- Kuzhithurai (KZT) — For Marthandam, Thuckalay and the Padmanabhapuram palace.
- Eraniel (ERL) — A small station on the coastal alignment, useful for Colachel and Muttom.
By road

Getting around
Frequent buses between Nagercoil, Kanyakumari, Marthandam and Kuzhithurai, and share autos in the towns. Almost everything in the region is within an hour of Nagercoil, which makes it one of the few Indian regions that can genuinely be seen from a single base.
