How to reach

By air

  • Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar International Airport, Nagpur (NAG) — Central India's principal airport and a major air-cargo hub, chosen for that role because of how close it is to the country's geographic centre. About 8 km from the city.
  • Gondia (Birsi) and Amravati (Belora) — Small airfields with limited and intermittent scheduled service; confirm before planning around either.

By rail

  • Nagpur Junction (NGP) — One of the busiest junctions in India, because the Mumbai–Howrah and Delhi–Chennai trunk routes cross here. Nearly everything running east–west or north–south through central India stops.
  • Ballarshah Junction (BPQ) — The southern gateway, and the changeover point for Telangana and the south. Chandrapur is the station for Tadoba.
  • Wardha Junction (WR) — For Sevagram and Paunar; Sevagram station itself is on the same node.
  • Badnera Junction (BD) — The junction for Amravati, Chikhaldara and the Melghat.
  • Akola Junction (AK) — For the western cotton plain, Shegaon and the Lonar approach.
  • Gondia Junction (G) — For the eastern tank country, Navegaon and Nagzira.

By water

Getting around

Nagpur has a metro and is easy. Everything else is state transport buses and shared jeeps. Gadchiroli district is road-only, distances are long, and daylight travel is the sensible default. Tadoba, Pench and Navegaon all require gate permits booked in advance.
