How to reach
By air
- Rajiv Gandhi International Airport, Shamshabad (HYD) — About 30 km south of the city centre on an expressway; the plateau's only international gateway and the practical entry point for every part of the region.
By rail
- Secunderabad Junction (SC) — The region's principal terminus and the busiest of the three Hyderabad stations.
- Hyderabad Deccan (Nampally) (HYB) — Closest to the old city and the Charminar.
- Kacheguda (KCG) — A 1916 Qutb Shahi-revival station building, and the departure point for many southern services.
- Kazipet Junction and Warangal (KZJ / WL) — For the Kakatiya tank belt, Ramappa and the fort.
- Nizamabad and Basar (NZB / BSX) — For the north-west and the Godavari.
- Mahbubnagar and Gadwal (MBNR / GWD) — For the Palamuru dryland and the weaving towns.
By road

Getting around
Hyderabad has a three-line metro and the MMTS suburban rail; buses reach every mandal headquarters. Warangal is about 145 km from Hyderabad by road or rail and is the right base for Ramappa, Pakhal and Laknavaram — Ramappa itself has no useful public transport and needs a hired vehicle. Medaram during the jatara is served by thousands of special buses and by nothing at all in between.
