How to reach
By air
- Kempegowda International Airport, Bengaluru (BLR) — The region's gateway and the busiest airport in south India after Chennai; about 35 km north of the city and roughly three hours from Mysuru by road.
- Mysuru Airport (Mandakalli) (MYQ) — A short domestic runway with limited connections; useful when it is running, not to be planned around.
By rail
- KSR Bengaluru City Junction (SBC) — The main terminus, with the Mysuru corridor's frequent services leaving from here and from Yesvantpur.
- Yesvantpur Junction (YPR) — The second Bengaluru terminus, for trains towards the north and west.
- Mysuru Junction (MYS) — Under two hours from Bengaluru on the fastest services; the base for Srirangapatna, Somanathapura and the southern forests.
- Mandya (MYA) — For the canal command and for Maddur, one stop up the line.
- Chamarajanagar (CMNR) — The end of the line, and the rail approach to the southern forest edge.
By road

Getting around
Bengaluru has a metro on two axes and an enormous bus network; autos are metered in principle. Mysuru is walkable in its core and has a good city bus system, and tongas still work the palace circuit. For the forest districts a hired car is effectively required, and the last stretch to MM Hills is a ghat road best driven in daylight.
