The hill wardrobe is three woven rectangles and nothing tailored: rignai wrapped at the waist, risa across the chest or over the shoulder, rikutu wrapped over both in cold weather. All three come off a loin loom worked by women at home, in narrow panels joined lengthwise, so the pattern is built from bands and the band structure identifies the community, the occasion and sometimes the wearer's stage of life. On the plain the dress is deltaic — cotton sari, dhoti, and the same handloom cotton the rest of Bengal wears. Two of the hill cloths were registered as geographical indications in 2024.

The wrap-around lower garment, woven in bands and worn from waist to calf. Patterns are named, and the most prestigious of them, chamathwi bar — white ground with a maroon or dark border — is kept for weddings and for Garia puja and Hangrai. A woman's stock of rignai is her wardrobe and, historically, her savings.

A narrower cloth worn across the chest, over the shoulder or wound as a turban, and also presented to a guest as a mark of respect. Its ritual weight comes from the Risa Sormani, the ceremony at which a girl is given her first risa to wear at adolescence — a textile that marks a stage of life rather than an occasion.

The wrapper worn over the rignai and risa, larger and plainer than either, used as a shawl and as a covering. The three-cloth set is complete only with it.

The man's woven shirt or jacket, worn with a wrapped lower cloth; pachra is the term paired with rignai in the GI registration of the women's ensemble. The men's weave is plainer than the women's throughout the region.

The Chakma equivalent of the rignai-and-risa pair — a striped waist cloth and a breast cloth, with a distinct palette and border grammar, woven on the same kind of loin loom by a community whose language is Indo-Aryan rather than Tibeto-Burman.

A wrapped lower cloth in the Arakanese manner, reflecting the community's origin across the Bay rather than in the hills, and worn most visibly at the Sangrai water festival in April.

The women's woven ensemble, registered as a geographical indication in 2024. Woven on a loin loom in narrow joined panels with banded, named patterns, and produced overwhelmingly by women weaving at home rather than in workshops.
