कैसे पहुँचें
हवाई मार्ग
- Bagdogra International Airport (IXB) — The gateway for the whole region, on the plain near Siliguri. Darjeeling is about 70 km and three hours up; Gangtok about 125 km and four to five hours.
- Pakyong Airport (PYG) — Sikkim's own airport, opened in 2018, about 30 km from Gangtok; services are weather-dependent.
रेल मार्ग
- New Jalpaiguri (NJP) — The main railhead for both Sikkim and Darjeeling, and the lower terminus of the Darjeeling Himalayan Railway.
- Siliguri Junction (SGUJ)
- Darjeeling and Kurseong — On the narrow-gauge line; the Darjeeling–Ghum joy ride runs daily, the full-length service intermittently.
सड़क मार्ग
NH10 along the Teesta from Sevoke through Rangpo to Gangtok — the single lifeline, and landslide-prone in monsoonHill Cart Road from Siliguri through Kurseong to Darjeeling, shadowing the railway the whole wayPankhabari and Rohini roads as the steeper alternatives up the Darjeeling ridgeGangtok to Lachen and Lachung in north Sikkim, and the Nathu La road east, both requiring permitsJorethang as the road junction linking west Sikkim to the Darjeeling ridge
स्थानीय आवाजाही
Shared jeeps are the actual public transport of the hills, leaving from fixed stands when full rather than to a timetable, and they reach places no bus does. Gangtok has a ropeway; Darjeeling has the toy train and a great deal of walking. Foreign nationals need an Inner Line Permit for Sikkim, and protected-area permits are required for north Sikkim and the Nathu La road — rules and closures change, so confirm locally before setting out.
