A palace, its collections and its maintenance budget. Padmanabhapuram stands in Tamil Nadu and is administered by Kerala's archaeology department, and the same arrangement pattern extends to other Travancore institutional interests left on the eastern side of the 1956 line.

Coconut-Oil and Kodampuli Corridor
Coconut oil as the default cooking fat, smoke-dried Garcinia as the fish souring agent, the unglazed clay pot, appam and idiyappam, and the plantain-leaf feast order.
अंतर कहाँ है: North of the tip the same kitchen has no idli batter standing beside the appam batter; east of the gap the fat becomes gingelly and the sour becomes tamarind. This region is the only place where both grammars are native at once.
Nanjil Speech Corridor
Malayalam as a household and school language on the Tamil side of the line, and Tamil vocabulary and labour moving the other way. Writers, newspapers and church congregations operate in both.
अंतर कहाँ है: On the Kerala side Malayalam is the language of administration; here it is a recognised minority language maintained through schools, churches and family use while all official business happens in Tamil.
Amman and Ayyappa Pilgrim Corridor
Devotees in both directions — Mandaikadu's Amman festival draws heavily from across the Ghats, and Ayyappa groups from this district travel north through the season with the same vratham, dress and irumudikettu as their Kerala counterparts.
अंतर कहाँ है: Preparatory observance here is organised through neighbourhood bhajana groups working in Tamil, while on the Kerala side it is arranged household by household in Malayalam.
Fishery Coast Catholic Corridorअंतरराष्ट्रीय
Parish feast calendars, chavittu nadakam, boat-blessing rites, Portuguese-derived surnames and everyday vocabulary, and a shared fishing technology, running continuously up the coast from the tip.
अंतर कहाँ है: The eastern Fishery Coast parishes trace their history to the Jesuit mission of the 1540s, while the western coastal parishes came under a different mission and later ecclesiastical structure; the feast calendars diverge accordingly.
Smallholder Rubber Corridor
Rubber planting stock, tapping labour, sheet-rolling and smoking practice, and the grading standards used to sell it, all continuous across the midland from Marthandam northwards.
