Kutch · Arid Northwest
भूभाग और पारिस्थितिक अंचल
Arid, with roughly 350 mm of rain in an average year and enormous variance around that average — successive failed monsoons are normal and are what the pastoral economy is designed around. Summer reaches 45 °C and above, winter nights on the Rann drop close to freezing, and the daily range in the salt desert is wider than anywhere else in western India. Arabian Sea cyclones make landfall on the Kachchh coast every few years.

साल भर
| मौसम | महीने | सामान्य | कैसा रहता है |
|---|---|---|---|
| Winter | November–February | 8–30 °C | The salt dries white, the flamingos are on the Rann, the Rann Utsav camp is up at Dhordo, and every craft village is working for the season. The only comfortable time to be on the flat at midday. |
| Summer | March–June | 25–46 °C | The Rann becomes unusable, the Maldhari move stock towards water, and camel and buffalo herds walk further each night. Date harvest on the Mundra–Mandvi coast falls at the end of this window. |
| Monsoon | July–September | 27–35 °C | Sea water and river water together flood the Rann and the mainland is effectively an island. Grass comes up on the Banni within days; a failed monsoon here is a livestock crisis rather than a crop crisis. |
| Post-monsoon | October | 22–36 °C | The Rann drains and re-crusts, and Navratri fills the villages before the craft season opens. |
घूमने का सबसे अच्छा समयNovember to February, and December to February if the point is the white Rann or the flamingos. The craft villages work year-round but are busiest and best stocked in that window. Avoid May and June entirely, and understand that between July and September the Rann is water and the routes onto it are closed.
