Garo Hills · Northeast Hill Massif
भूभाग और पारिस्थितिक अंचल
Warm and very wet, but not on the Sohra scale — most of the hills take between 2,500 and 4,000 mm a year, with the rain arriving from May and running to late September. Tura, at 349 m, is hot in the pre-monsoon months in a way the Shillong plateau never is, and the foothills are properly tropical. Winter is short, dry and mild.

साल भर
| मौसम | महीने | सामान्य | कैसा रहता है |
|---|---|---|---|
| Winter | November–February | 10–26 °C | Dry and clear. Wangala falls at the head of it, jhum plots are cut through December and January, and the Siju and Balpakram country is at its most walkable. |
| Pre-monsoon | March–April | 18–34 °C | Hot and hazy in the foothills. The cut jhum slopes are fired in this window and the hills are under smoke for several weeks. |
| Monsoon | May–September | 22–32 °C | Continuous rain, leeches, and roads that fail. Sowing follows the first rains, and the Simsang runs high enough to close the lower caves. |
| Post-monsoon | October | 18–30 °C | The harvest, and the start of the Wangala season across the villages. |
घूमने का सबसे अच्छा समयNovember to March. Early November if the point is Wangala, which is set village by village rather than on a fixed date — the Hundred Drums festival at Asanang is the one event with an announced date.
