Warm and very wet, but not on the Sohra scale — most of the hills take between 2,500 and 4,000 mm a year, with the rain arriving from May and running to late September. Tura, at 349 m, is hot in the pre-monsoon months in a way the Shillong plateau never is, and the foothills are properly tropical. Winter is short, dry and mild.

WinterNovember–February10–26 °CDry and clear. Wangala falls at the head of it, jhum plots are cut through December and January, and the Siju and Balpakram country is at its most walkable.
Pre-monsoonMarch–April18–34 °CHot and hazy in the foothills. The cut jhum slopes are fired in this window and the hills are under smoke for several weeks.
MonsoonMay–September22–32 °CContinuous rain, leeches, and roads that fail. Sowing follows the first rains, and the Simsang runs high enough to close the lower caves.

घूमने का सबसे अच्छा समयNovember to March. Early November if the point is Wangala, which is set village by village rather than on a fixed date — the Hundred Drums festival at Asanang is the one event with an announced date.
