हवाई मार्ग

  • Jolly Grant Airport, Dehradun (DED) — The region's only significant airport, about 20 km from Rishikesh and 25 km from Dehradun.
  • Seasonal helicopter services — Kedarnath is served from Phata, Sersi and Guptkashi in the pilgrimage season, on a booking system that is routinely oversubscribed and routinely grounded by weather.

रेल मार्ग

  • Dehradun (DDN) — The northern terminus of the line, with overnight services from Delhi, Lucknow and Kolkata.
  • Haridwar Junction (HW) — The practical railhead for the entire pilgrimage circuit.
  • Yog Nagari Rishikesh (YNRK) — The newer Rishikesh station, and the current head of the line being extended towards Karnaprayag.
  • Kotdwar (KTW) — For Lansdowne, Pauri and the Rath country.

स्थानीय आवाजाही

Shared jeeps and Sumos are the real transport system, running from fixed stands at Rishikesh, Srinagar, Rudraprayag and Joshimath and leaving when full rather than on a timetable. Distances are small and times are long — Rishikesh to Joshimath is about 250 km and most of a day. Between mid-July and mid-September assume road closures, and do not plan a hill journey after dark.
