त्योहार

त्योहारकबक्या होता है
TeejShravana Shukla Tritiya (July–August)Jaipur's own procession, in which an image of the goddess is carried out of the City Palace through Tripolia Bazaar on two successive afternoons. Women wear leheriya, swings go up in courtyards, and the halwais sell nothing but ghewar for a fortnight.
GangaurChaitra (March–April), ending on Chaitra Shukla TritiyaEighteen days of women worshipping Gauri, closing with a procession of the Isar and Gauri images from the Zenani Deodhi of the City Palace. Jaipur's is among the largest Gangaur processions anywhere.
Gindad and Holi in ShekhawatiFrom Basant Panchami to Holi (late January to March)A six-week season rather than a day. Men's groups sing dhamal to chang and nagara through the towns most evenings, and the Gindad dance runs at full scale in the last fortnight. The verses are improvised and frequently satirical about local figures.
Khatushyamji Lakhi MelaPhalgun Shukla Ekadashi and Dwadashi (February–March)The largest gathering in the region, drawing pilgrims who walk the last stretch from Ringas. The town's ordinary population is a fraction of the crowd, and the surrounding villages effectively become the infrastructure for a week.
Salasar melasChaitra Purnima and Ashwin PurnimaTwo full-moon fairs at the Balaji shrine in Churu district, each drawing walking pilgrim groups from Rajasthan, Haryana and Delhi along established foot routes.
Sheetla Mata fair, ChaksuChaitra Krishna Ashtami (March–April)A large fair south of Jaipur at the Sheetla shrine, where cold food cooked the previous day is offered and eaten. The goddess is associated with smallpox and with fever, and the observance long outlived the disease.
Jeen Mata fairBoth Navratris (March–April and September–October)Nine nights at the hill shrine near Harsh in Sikar district, with a large walking pilgrimage and continuous night singing. The temple site itself is old enough to sit alongside the tenth-century Harshnath ruins nearby.
Diwali in the walled cityKartik (October–November)Jaipur's old-city bazaars light their frontages under a market-wide scheme, and the shopkeepers' accounts are closed and the new bahi-khata opened on the same night — the commercial year and the festival being the same event in a trading town.
Jaipur Literature FestivalJanuaryBegun in 2006 and now among the largest free literary gatherings anywhere. It is a modern addition with no traditional roots, and it is included here because it has become the single largest cultural event in the region's calendar by attendance.
