It is understood locally as a commemoration of a Chandela battle, and it is the largest gathering in the tank belt. |
| Alha singing season | Savan and Bhadon (July–September) | Not a festival with a date, but a season: Alhaits sing at village gatherings through the monsoon, often competitively, and the same episodes are demanded year after year. |
| Diwari and Mauniya | The days around Diwali (October–November) | Ahir stick-dance troupes move between villages, and the mauniya dancers hold a day-long vow of silence while dancing. Cattle are washed, painted and garlanded, and in some villages driven over prostrate devotees. |
| Holi and the Fag gatherings | Phalgun (February–March) | Fag verses sung from Basant Panchami onwards, building to Holi. Isuri's verses are sung by name, and villages hold overnight singing sittings in the weeks before. |
