Hilsa, ground raw mustard, the bhape steaming method and the banana-leaf paturi wrap — one fish and one technique used identically across the whole delta and up the Barak and Brahmaputra as far as the fish runs.
अंतर कहाँ है: The eastern delta cooks the fish with more chilli and no sugar and reserves the roe differently; the Hooghly side is milder and more willing to add a potato. Smoked and dried hilsa belongs mainly to the north-eastern end of the corridor.

Chaitanya's sankirtan, padavali kirtan, the khol-and-kartal ensemble, and the pilgrimage line from Nabadwip to Puri and on to Vrindavan that his followers established in the sixteenth century.
अंतर कहाँ है: Odisha's Gaudiya practice fused with the Jagannath temple's own calendar; the Braj end produced its own Hindi devotional literature. Only in the delta did the form stay a street procession rather than becoming primarily a temple rite.
The Bengali Standard Language Corridorअंतरराष्ट्रीय
A single literary standard, built in the nineteenth century on the Nadia–Kolkata variety and now the written language of the entire delta, the Barak valley, Tripura and a large part of Jharkhand's eastern districts.
अंतर कहाँ है: The eastern delta's spoken varieties differ sharply from that standard, so the gap between speech and writing is wider there. Vocabulary has also diverged in officialese and in scientific coinage on the two sides.
The Baul and Fakir Corridorअंतरराष्ट्रीय
The Baul–Fakir song complex, its ektara and dubki, its akhra teaching lineages, and a shared body of Lalon Shah's songs sung on both sides of the Bhagirathi–Padma country.
अंतर कहाँ है: The Rarh side kept the Baul name and the Vaishnava Sahajiya vocabulary; the eastern side kept the Fakiri name and a Sufi vocabulary for the same practice. The songs themselves cross freely.
The Chhena Sweet Beltअंतरराष्ट्रीय
Acid-set curd worked into sweets — rosogolla, sandesh, chhanar payesh, rasabali, chhena poda — a technique found in this eastern strip and almost nowhere else in India, where sweets are otherwise built on reduced milk or on flour.
अंतर कहाँ है: Odisha bakes and caramelises the curd where the delta boils or briefly cooks it. The delta developed the moulded sandesh; Odisha developed the temple-offering forms.
The Terracotta Temple Beltअंतरराष्ट्रीय
Brick temples faced in moulded terracotta plaques, built where there is no stone, running from Rarh's laterite country across the delta to the eastern districts — Kalna, Katwa, Baranagar, Bishnupur, Puthia, Kantanagar.
अंतर कहाँ है: Rarh's panels run to Ramayana and Krishna narrative; the delta's add river traffic, European soldiers and Portuguese ships, because that is what was passing the site while it was being built.
The Weaving Lineage Corridorअंतरराष्ट्रीय
Fine cotton weaving technique — the jamdani supplementary-weft method, the Tangail border, the Santipur count — carried by weaving families and rebuilt on new looms at Fulia, Santipur and Dhaniakhali.
अंतर कहाँ है: Jamdani remained the eastern delta's flagship and was inscribed by UNESCO from Bangladesh in 2013; the western delta's descendants of the same technique went towards the Fulia Tangail and the fine plain Santipur instead.
The Metiabruz Exile Corridor
The Awadhi court kitchen, Kathak, thumri and the kite-and-pigeon culture, brought physically to a Hooghly-side suburb of Calcutta in 1856 with the deposed Wajid Ali Shah and a household of several thousand.
अंतर कहाँ है: The Calcutta biryani took on the potato and often a boiled egg and became lighter and less meat-heavy; the thumri stayed and entered Bengali light-classical singing, where it is still sung in Bengali words.
