| Karma Puja | Bhadon (August–September), on the eleventh day of the bright fortnight | A karam branch is cut, brought to the dancing ground, worshipped through the night with fasting by unmarried women and men, and immersed at dawn. Karma dancing runs the whole night around it. Observed across the Gond, Kol, Baiga and Oraon communities of the Son valley. |
| Hareli and Nagpanchami | Sawan (July–August) | The first festival of the agricultural year in the forest districts — ploughs and farm tools are washed and worshipped, and neem branches fixed at doorways. Wrestling and akhara bouts on Nagpanchami. |

| Holi and Faag | Phalgun (February–March) | Faag singing from Basant Panchami to Holi in the western districts, and Holi bonfires and colour everywhere. The Bagheli faag repertoire is closely related to the Bundeli one and is often sung in mixed sittings. |
| Sundarja mango season | June–July | Not a festival but the calendar event the Rewa plateau organises itself around, with orchard sales, grading and, since the GI, organised export consignments. |
| Mahua collection | Late March–April | Households sleep at the base of their trees and sweep the fallen corollas at first light before animals and other collectors reach them. It is a working season with the social weight of a festival, and it sets the year's cash position for a large part of the forest population. |
