Tropical and wet, with roughly 3,000 mm of rain in a normal year and no dry season worth the name. The temperature barely moves — about 23–31 °C all year — and humidity stays high. Two monsoons land here rather than one: the south-west from about May to September and the north-east from November into December, which is why the islands have twice the rainfall of the Indian west coast at the same latitude.

South-west monsoonMay–September23–30 °CHeavy, sustained rain and a rough sea. Inter-island ferries are cancelled at short notice and the small boats stop. Paddy goes in at the start of it in North and Middle Andaman.
North-east monsoonNovember–December23–30 °CA second wet spell, shorter and squallier, sometimes with cyclonic weather crossing from the Bay of Bengal.
